Further proof that Danny is the boss in this relationship: While going on their hiking date, Danny makes Steve carry the big heavy man-purse (i.e. backpack)full of rope and duct tape and, I assume, snacks and water and hats and sun screen. Danny doesn't have to carry a darn thing; he can devote all of his energy to bantering with Steve and looking adorable.
