I retired in December. My previous university starts classes tomorrow. I just realized that today is the first time in my entire life (since first grade) that this is not the first day of a fall semester for me. Pardon me while I sit here and quietly freak out.

Though after approx 10960 days of being retired, I still think of the first of those days as being one of the happiest of my life. Freedom! To do what I wanted when I wanted.

I am greatly enjoying retirement (sleeping on MY schedule for a change is heavenly); the beginning of the fall semester just kind of took me by surprise. I felt a little wobbly for a minute!

Oh, don't get me wrong, it feels good now! Felt weird for the first few weeks, but all good after that. But the beginning of the fall semester just took me by surprise, and I felt a little *strange* for a minute. For my whole life I basically measured time in general by the beginning of the fall semester; it's pretty ingrained! But retirement is lovely for sure!
