This has all happened before...

OK, is anyone out there watching Caprica? What do you think? I watched the two-hour pilot last night, and right now it could go either way. It could go downhill fast or I could become totally hooked. I guess we shall see. The pilot was a little slow, but omg SO beautiful to look at. I don't know why TPTB think we are all so fascinated by obnoxious teenage girls, and I kept wanting to yell at Zoe to get her damn hair out of her eyes and stop mumbling. I do not believe for a minute she was (is) a computer genius; I think she just needed a good spanking. And the religion angle is not really my cup of tea, but does provide some fascinating insight into the Cylons of BSG.

HOWEVER, like I said, visually striking. Interesting ideas. Some surprises. Canadian actors! Vancouver! Shiny cylons and hilarious little servant-robot-things that look like bowling pins. Trixie from Deadwood, yay! Lovely broody Esai Morales in a sexy hat! And I guess most of all it proves that my long-held crush on Eric Stoltz is still there and going strong.

OH, and they totally ripped off a line from a Star Trek TOS novel from the seventies! Don't ask me how I know that. I was equal parts annoyed at that and yet oh so happy!

So Caprica, I'm not sure we'll ever be best friends, but we might and I'm willing to go on a couple more dates with you and see how it works out...

ETA: OK, the line I mentioned was actually originally said by William James. From Wikipedia:
William James coined the famous verificationist motto: "A difference that makes no difference is no difference".
NOT from that TOS novel that had a big influence on my early slashy leanings, but hey whatever...
Sigh.
